Bloomington-Normal Meet Runs

  • Tipton Park, Saturdays at 8am

Saturday mornings at 8am, we meet at Tipton Park North, on Stone Mountain Blvd, just off College Avenue in Bloomington.  In case of inclement weather such as significant ice, thunderstorms or snowfall, we meet at one of our an alternate indoor locations - Heartland Community College Fitness & Recreation Center or at Eastland Mall.  Keep an eye on our Facebook Events page for location updates!

  • Alternate Indoor Option - Eastland Mall, Saturdays at 8am

When the weather prevents an outdoor run, we sometimes meet at Eastland Mall.  You'll be surprised to find what a great, creative workout can be had mall-walking and playing games before the stores open!  Meet at the North entrance, between Ulta and the former JC Penny store.

When the weather turns ugly, stay tuned to our Facebook page for location updates!

  • Alternate Indoor Option - Heartland FRC, Saturdays 8am

In case of inclement weather, we sometimes use the indoor track and lounge at Heartland Community College Fitness & Recreation Center.  The FRC has a great indoor track and it's quite warm, so even if it's icy out, consider wearing shorts under your heavy coat, because you're going to get your sweat on!

When the weather turns bad, stay tuned to our Facebook page for location updates!

Our motto

The mission of 261 Fearless Club Bloomington-Normal is to Empower, Engage and Connect women in Bloomington-Normal through the power of simply showing up and putting one foot in front of the other.

Our history

The number 261 is Kathrine Switzer’s bib number from the 1967 Boston Marathon. She protected that bib while an angry race director attacked her in the second mile and tried to rip the numbers off her shirt. He was infuriated that a woman had entered his race, declaring that it was a men’s only event.  Check out the whole story, in her own words.

Kathrine fearlessly continued on to finish the 1967 26.2-mile Boston Marathon after the race director tried to physically remove her from the course at Mile 2.

261 Fearless is a global community of women who have found strength, power and fearlessness from putting one foot in front of the other. This strength has allowed each woman to overcome doubt and adversity in her life and she has the ability and desire to give support to other women who want to take on their personal challenges through running or walking. This is a safe community of support, respect, friendship and sharing of accomplishments and a place for women who want to become runners and walkers to find their fearless through connection with others.
