The first 261 Club New Zealand meet run in Palmerston North after the summer break

The Palmerston North chapter of 261 Club New Zealand re-launched its activity after the summer break and held the first 261 Club meet run in 2020. Twenty women of all ages and stages joined on the morning of February 5 – a mixture of current members and those completely new to 261, trying it for the first time. 261 Club Director and Coach Kate Southern lead the group through a varied running program and was delighted to have Kathrine Switzer join the event.

After a few inspiring and encouraging words from Kathrine, Kate kicked off with a couple of warm-up games designed to test the runners’ memory and agility, before heading off for a run or walk along the beautiful Manawatu River.

Coffee and chat at a nearby cafe was another highlight, giving all women a chance to connect with each other and with Kathrine – so many inspiring stories from courageous women. We’re already looking forward to next week’s meet run and we hope to see many of the new ladies back to join us again.
