WE RUN: Women’s Empowerment through Running Unites Nations

Group of women and men running together outdoors for empowerment.

We’re thrilled to announce a brand-new initiative by Club 261 Austria in partnership with 261 Club Albania, Opportunity Balance Overcoming and University of Prishtina, co-funded by the European Union with an Erasmus+ Sport grant for Capacity Building.

WE RUN is all about creating safe, women-led spaces where women can connect, grow, and discover their own strength. In Albania and Kosovo, two countries in the heart of the Western Balkans, women are stepping forward together, proving that movement – both on the road and in life – can empower, unite, and transform.

In Albania, the focus is on creating a strong, women-led non-profit – a functioning 261 Fearless Club – that offers safe, empowering Meet Runs for all women. From that experience, we’re crafting a roadmap to launch a new 261 Club in Kosovo. Learning from these experiences and sharing what works, this roadmap will help others hit the ground running.

The project officially kicked off with an in-person meeting in Klagenfurt, Austria, from February 20–22, 2026. For three days, all partners came together to plan, collaborate, and share a joint run – a perfect start to building this vibrant, cross-border community of women runners.
