261 Fearless Inc., is a proud partner of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon Official Charity Program in the 2020 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. We have been provided a limited number of invitational entries for the 2020 edition to be used exclusively for charitable fundraising purposes. 261 Fearless follows all official charity rules and requirements of the race organizer.
Please read carefully the following terms and conditions before signing below.
Registration process: In order to secure a bib, you can apply for one of our 261 Fearless Charity Team entries. Or, if you are a runner with a secured entry, you can apply to become part of the 261 Fearless Charity Team. For all applicants there is a US$ 50 non-refundable application fee to apply to become a member of the 261 Fearless Charity Team.
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older and fully comply with all rules and regulations of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Please note: applicants need to be able to complete a marathon within the six hours and 30 minutes time limit.
Fundraising Commitment: Each runner on the 261 Fearless Charity Team must raise a minimum of US$ 2,000 to join the Team. Runners with a bib already granted from the organizer must raise a minimum of US$ 1,261 to join the 261 Fearless Charity Team.
Funds raised by the 261 Fearless Charity Team participants benefit 261 Fearless global and local programs and services.
To launch this commitment, each runner must pay a US$ 261 non-refundable Team deposit by credit card upon joining the 261 Fearless Charity Team. This US$ 261 payment is due to 261 Fearless within 10 days after acceptence and will secure the spot on the team. This US$ 261 Fearless Charity Team deposit will be applied toward your fundraising goal and is tax-deductible.
The remaining balance of the minimum US$ 2,000 / US$ 1,261 must be received by 261 Fearless by October 30 2020. In the event that the runner does not meet the minimum in fundraising requirements by the required date, 261 Fearless reserves the right to charge the balance owed to the credit card provided on the acceptance agreement, unless prior agrrangements have been made. Master Card, Visa and American Express are accepted. If you continue to fundraise and meet the minimum fundraising requirement after your credit card has been processed for the remaining balance, 261 Fearless will reimburse your card upon written request, minus any processing fees. 261 Fearless will not reimburse your card after October 30, 2020. Any person who fails to meet any of the deadlines above will be subject to forfeiture of their bib and all funds raised will be transferred as a general, tax-deductible donation to 261 Fearless.
All online fundraising must be conducted using only the platform provided by 261 Fearless. Currency conversion to US dollars is the responsibility of the 261 Fearless Charity Team member. Offline donations will only be counted toward the fundraising minimum when the funds are received by 261 Fearless. The runner is responsible for submitting all offline donations to 261 Fearless. Funds raised by a 261 Fearless Charity Team runner cannot be credited to another 261 Fearless Charity Team runner’s fundraising requirement.
Team 261 Fearless Participation: Each runner who joins the 261 Fearless Charity Team is required to join and participate in the private Charity Team online forum, attend the 261 Fearless Virtual Meetings unless a special exception is made when discussed with 261 Fearless Charity Manager. During race weekend the 261 Fearless Charity Team Briefing is mandatory.
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your participation with 261 Fearless for the 2020 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, waiving your responsibility for the US$ 2,000 / US$ 1,261 minimum, any time on or before officially registrating for the 2020 race. To do so you must contact the 261 Fearless Charity Manager, in writing, on or before the cancellation date. Your US $ 261 Team Fee is non-refundable. After official registration for the 2020 Bank of America Chicago Marathon you are responsible for raising the US$ 2,000 / US$ 1,261 minimum, even if for any reason, including injury, you are unable to run in the 2020 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
Donations raised and received by our office will not be refunded, even if you leave Team 261 Fearless before registration.
Matching gift Policy: Many companies match employee charitable contributions. You can check with your employer to see if your company has this program. You are also encouraged to ask donors if their employers match gifts. Many companies issue matching gift checks quarterly or semi-annually; therefore, if you plan to use a match to reach your minimum, it is your responsibility to contact the matching company to ensure the check will be issued before October 30, 2020. If the company’s match cycle is past October 30, 2020, the match cannot count towards your minimum.
Registration Charity Entries: 261 Fearless will inform you of the details of the registration procedure after your application is accepted. The Bank of America Chicago Marathon charges a race application fee that does not count towards your fundraising commitment. This fee will be collected separately by the race organizer and cannot be paid for using funds raised toward your minimum requirements. Furthermore, the registration for the event is separate from any team application and paperwork. The race application fee is US$ 205 for US residents, $ 230 for non US residents.
Emergency Information: In the event of an illness, injury or medical emergency arising during the event or in the training and planning sessions for said event, you hereby authorize and give your consent to 261 Fearless to secure from any accredited hospital, clinic and/or physician any treatment deemed necessary for your immediate care. You agree that you will be fully responsible for payment of any and all medical services and treatment rendered to you including but not limited to medical transport, medications, treatment, and hospitalization.
Release Form and Contribution Agreement: In consideration of my accepting this entry, I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, waive and release any and all claims, damages, cost or expenses that may arise as a direct or indirect result my participation in the above-described fundraising program or my participation in the 2020 Bank of America Chicago Marathon and/or any training, travel or other event related thereto (collectively, “the event”). I further attest and certify that I am physically fit, and covenant that I will be sufficiently trained for competition in this event, and, within thirty (30) days of the date of the event, have a licensed medical doctor verify my physical fitness to participate in the event. I agree to collect a minimum of US$2,000 / US$ 1,261 which will go towards unrestricted support of 261 Fearless, by October 30, 2020. If I have not reached the minimum in fundraising by that date, I will personally be responsible for the balance owed. I understand that unless I cancel after my official registration, 261 Fearless reserves the right to charge the balance I owe to my credit card, net of credit card fees. I declare that I have exercised my own judgment in signing this agreement and I further declare that my decision to sign this agreement was voluntary and not based on or influenced by any representation of 261 Fearless, Inc.
Release of Image for PR: I grant permission for use of my name, likeness, image, voice, and/or appearance as such may be embodied in any pictures, photos, video recordings, social media postings, digital images, and the like, concerning my participation in Team 261 Fearless, without compensation. I understand and agree that any content described in the aforementioned sentence may or may not contain attributions specifically identifying me or any of my property.
