261 Fearless announces TWO new exciting race partnerships

Two running events have recently been named as official 261 Fearless Partner Events; the Women’s Right to Run in the USA and the Women Can Marathon in the UK.

When we partner with an event we’re careful to choose races that fit with our ethos of being welcoming to all women and inclusive of all abilities. You can attend any of our partner events safe in the knowledge that your success will be celebrated, regardless of your finish time.

The Women’s Right to Run in Seneca Falls, New York is on Saturday May 13, 2017. This is the second annual run at the site of the first Women’s Rights Convention back in 1848. There are 5k or 19k route options which are picturesque and relatively flat. 19k was chosen as the race distance to acknowledge the 19th amendment which gave women the right to vote. Men and women are invited to take part.

“The Women’s Right to Run 19K/5K is a true celebration of female empowerment. When I first learned of this run taking place in the historic town that is the Birthplace of Women’s Rights, I knew a partnership with 261 Fearless would be the perfect fit,” said Kathrine Switzer. “I’m very excited to be returning for the 2nd annual event!”

Details about race registration and course maps can be found at www.righttorun19k.org

The Women Can Marathon is being held in Devon in the south west of England on Sunday May 28, 2017. The race organisers wanted to mark Kathrine Switzer’s 50th anniversary run in Boston and bring women together to celebrate that women CAN run. The start line is in the village of Tipton St John and the route, which is almost entirely off road, takes in the stunning scenery of East Devon and part of the South West Coast Path on the Jurassic World Heritage Site. There are places for female solo and team runners and Nordic walkers too.

Race administrator Jo Earlem told us: “We’re thrilled to be joining forces with 261 Fearless, and honoured to have Kathrine’s personal backing for this unique and special event. It's a challenging route, not a course to be thinking about doing a PB, but that's not what this marathon is about. It's about being part of it, enjoying the course and the company.”
