261 Club Metro Chicago had an exciting weekend hosting 261 Fearless ladies from around the globe who were in town for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, famous for being one of the largest marathons and one of the Abbott World Marathon Majors. Massachusetts and South Carolina, along with the U.K., Germany, and Malaysia were all represented by 261 ladies at Club MC’s events.
Excitement was in the air on a crisp and sunny day before the marathon. On Saturday morning 261 Fearless ladies and members of 261 Club MC met at one of Chicago’s iconic public sculptures, the Cloud Gate (commonly known as 'The Bean'), made of seamless stainless steel which reflects the skyline and people standing nearby. From there, they all went on an easy 3 mile shakeout run along the city’s Lake Michigan running path. Afterwards, they continued to the beautiful 125 year old Chicago Athletic Association Building for coffee. The morning was filled with excitement, laughing and talking while catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, and sharing the unique 261 Fearless energy and spirit.
On Sunday, marathon day, Club MC staged a cheering section in Chinatown, at mile 21.5 of the course. While cheering on all of the runners, there were great yells of joy and hugs for our 261 Fearless ladies as they faced the final miles of their marathon.
Come and join us at upcoming events in the US and around the globe and feel the unique 261 spirit and be part of our supportive network yourself.
