What can I say other than “261 Fearless Rock and Rolled Chicago”!
I ask my sons when they are recapping an event this question, “What are the top three images that come to your mind immediately about the event?” because those are the ones that count the most. If I ask myself that question about my experience in the beautiful lakeside city of Chicago, Illinois, USA the top 3 images are:
*Team 261 Fearless gathering at the start line of the 5K with the one and only Kathrine Switzer with the media taking our photos and videotaping our run with their cameraman on a skateboard! You heard me – on a skateboard! I’ve never been an “entourage” before but when you are with the “Marathon Woman” and you are on her team, you are the “entourage.”
* Watch Team 261 Fearless Bloomington Illinois Club cross the half marathon line. Christal Kneer ,who leads the 261 Fearless Club, brought 5 women with her to the Rock and Roll event to help spread the word about 261 Fearless at the Expo and to support us. Two of their club members raised money going to the club for promoting and retaining their club. All I can say is that is impressive! (Note: We have charity bibs for the Humana Rock and Roll event in San Antonio in December if you want to join us and raise money for a bib)
* Running next to Lake Michigan during the 5K run on a beautiful balmy summer morning with the sun shining and the air slightly humid and filled with excitement. Running near a lake or ocean are my favorite places to run. The half marathoners ran near the lake too.
I walked away from Chicago knowing more about this beautiful city thanks to 261 Fearless Team member Gayle McMurry and her husband Mike and new Illinois 261 Fearless friends. The best part of any 261 Fearless events and this fantastic global community are the wonderful women you meet who love to run and be a part of a community of women. What a joy it was to be in Chicago. I can’t wait to go back to see more of it!
I hope to see you in San Antonio with 261 Fearless at the Humana Rock and Roll Marathon series on December 2-3, 2017. Join me in running either the 5K, 10K, ½ Marathon or Marathon and help raise charity money for your club or 261 Fearless so we can keep promoting our awesome organization to the nation and world.
In entrepreneurial, athletic and fearless spirit,
Tracy Chamberlain Higginbotham
