The Power of Volunteering: Why It Matters and How You Benefit

Volunteering is a remarkable way to contribute to your community while benefitting your own life. It goes beyond the act of giving; it's about making connections, gaining new skills, and finding a sense of purpose. Volunteering opens the door to a world of positive change for both you and your community.

Volunteering is more than just giving your time; it's a powerful way to make a difference – and at the same time you can benefit personally.

Here are some compelling reasons to become a volunteer:

  1. Personal Growth: Volunteering exposes you to new experiences and provides the opportunity to develop your skills and broaden your perspective. These skills can help you in your professional life and career.
  2. Being part of a community: It's a great way to meet like-minded people, build friendships, and expand your network.
  3. Mental and Physical Health: Engaging in volunteer work can reduce stress, improve your mental, physical, and social health.
  4. Sense of Purpose: Contributing to a cause you care about fosters a sense of fulfilment and purpose.
  5. Community Impact: Witnessing the positive impact of your efforts on others can be deeply rewarding and motivating.

Here’s how to start out as a volunteer:

At 261 Fearless we rely on a team of 261 Coaches – volunteers who dedicate their time to leading the 261 Club Meet Runs. Their role goes far beyond the Meet Runs - they are leaders of positive change in their communities. At the same time, they benefit tremendously on a personal level through the 261 Fearless education program. Every 261 Coach has the opportunity to learn, grow and gain experience in a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment. But with you can support as a volunteer without the full commitment of a 261 Coach - the local 261 Clubs and 261 Fearless are constantly looking for volunteers who want to support the organisation.

This is what Hazel, one of our 261 Coaches says about her journey as a volunteer:

261 Fearless has taught me pure, raw self-belief.
