Club activities during the holiday season

Christmas is fast approaching and it’s the time of year where many of us are in a very special holiday mood. Some of our clubs already have their very own holiday traditions or are in the process of creating them. We asked some of the 261 Fearless clubs how they are getting themselves in the right holiday spirit.

The Lune Valley Club in the UK is usually meeting for runs in the morning, so for Christmas, they plan a special Christmas night run. Everyone will come dressed with Christmas hats and adorned in colored lights and sleigh bells. The route is a surprise and there will be mulled wine and mince pies to warm the Christmas runners up afterwards as it's sure to be chilly. The club has also organized a Christmas meal at a local pub, including some prosecco to toast and celebrate. All the members have to bring a gift for a 'secret santa'. The theme is 'run or fun' and each member can only spend £2.61.

In Austria, the club in Klagenfurt will do a run with Christmas lights. All the runners bring Christmas lights along, can dress up if they want to or put on fake reindeer antlers. After the run, there will be traditional Austrian Christmas cookies as well as mulled wine and mulled cider - a very special regional treat during the holiday season!

Coach Susanna from Canada has a “Dress Up Jingle Meet Run” in mind for her morning meet run, followed by a festive snack and coffee at – take a guess – yes, Tim Horton’s, the Canadian staple when it comes to coffee and donuts.

The club in Berlin, Germany is planning to have a Christmas breakfast with all the runners, many new mothers among them, plans to visit local Christmas markets and drink mulled wine are already being made for next year!

There are many ways to bring Christmas into your running routine - enjoy this special time of year and the festive atmosphere also during your runs!
