1. Beautiful scenery
The Lake Wörthersee is one of the most scenic lakes and holiday destinations in Austria. Situated in the state of Carinthia, the lake lies embedded in beautiful hills and mountains, the water is of the highest quality (drinking water!) and warm water temperatures (up to 24-25°C in August) guarantee an amazing holiday experience.
The area is not only known for one of the oldest and biggest Ironman races worldwide (Ironman Austria, making the region famous as a sports destination way beyond Europe), it also hosts the traditional running event Kärnten Läuft, which takes place from 24th-26th August 2018. The half marathon is also a top race for World record holders and Olympic champions - Eliud Kipchoge, Wilson Kipsang, Lornah Kiplagat and Florence Kiplagat run and won here.
All the races on this running weekend take place along the shore of this beautiful lake.
2. Special atmosphere and mutual support
The Raiffeisen Women’s Run is famous for its unique and supportive atmosphere. And also for its scenery - with start and finish line directly at the lake shore. Furthermore, it is perfect for everyone who wants to experience the feeling of anticipation and elation that comes with participating in a race, but for whom competition is not a big issue. For us, this race is not about competing against each other but about individual achievement and mutual support, no matter whether you want to beat your personal best, leisurely jog or walk. It’s not about a place on the podium, it’s about taking positive feelings with you.
In addition, the atmosphere of the event itself is amazing as well. No matter if it rains or if the sun is shining, the atmosphere of the Women’s Run is awesome every year! There is music before the start that invites you to dance along and warm up together with lots of motivated women.
3. Unique 261 Fearless Community spirit
The event draws 261 club members from all corners of Austria and this year there will even be members from all over Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Albania, Italy etc) joining us. It will be a unique opportunity to meet and network with club members and to experience the spirit of our international community.
Our goal is to be the biggest team in the event and every club runner who joins us helps us to reach this goal. We want to show everyone what our club stands for and that we are up for a good time!
4. Celebrating 261 Fearless
We will celebrate 261 Fearless and our community together after the race – we don’t just run, we are having a real running party!
Local club members are more than happy to help you with accommodation and travel arrangements, we have a few couches available as well ;) So you have the unique opportunity to learn more about the Austrian culture and the way of Austrian living… and never forget the delicious austrian food!!!
5. A whole weekend dedicated to running
The whole weekend is a big running party. You can choose from up to ten different races that are taking place, including dog runs, kid runs and of course our club highlight, the Women’s Run. At 5km, the Women’s Run is an ideal length for beginners who want to gain their first experiences with races and for more advanced runners who want to test their fitness level or just want to enjoy a warm-up run. If you want to challenge yourself even more - on Sunday the half marathon which goes from the West shore to the East shore - always along the lake - takes place, as well as a 10.5K race.
If you want to join us - please send a message to ezuschmann@261fearless.org. We have special rates for the Women’s run - and we can arrange private lodging for you, or help you with hotel rooms.
Be part of it - be 261 FEARLESS!
