I was super happy when I learned that I would be testing adidas’ Solar Boost running shoe. However, I was maybe a biased tester, all my running shoes are adidas Boost. Nevertheless I was over the moon when my parcel arrived, I could not wait to give them a run.
My runs are rather short, around 6k three times a week, slow pace (7 to 7.3 minutes/k). My runs help me keep the weight under control, stay healthy and motivate others to get out of their couch.
Unfortunately the first fit was disappointing, I could barely get them on, I have a high instep which often causes problems with shoes... But after an uncomfortable first 5k it all got better, I kinda sunk into the sole.
Surprisingly, the shoes are much tighter on top of my foot than the other (about 6) pairs of adidas Solar Boosts I run in. If I would have tried them on in the running store, I would have been insecure about purchasing them.
But after I put the shoes on and ran about 5K the compression diminished. I must have done about 35K with them now and they give a firm hold but no discomfort anymore. The flap at the back is perfect to pull them on, and I barely need the laces to hold them tight. They have a snug fit, a very stable hold, so good for longer runs I presume.
The boost is great, as with the previous types, for me it’s the feeling of bouncing off that’s so great. It helps to keep running when the head says ‘I’ve had enough’
I always run on tarmac, the cycling/walking path along the river Moselle, a flat run. This pair will now go with me on the race for the cure!
All in all I can safely say that I’m a fan!
